Bring Your Time Back
It happens all the time when Mr Hero wants to demonstrate how things are done. How one problem which no one can fix could actually be fixed by a special person, and that is Mr Hero.
We forget sometimes how Time flies so quick that we do not realise how much we have lost versus how much we have invested.
We call it "Sunk-Cost Bias". This is when you have invested so much and the results are yet to happen. Rockets upon rockets have been launched and you have lost billions and it is just no right to quit when you feel like you are almost there. That is when, it is just way too late to quit and say, "I've wasted my time and money".
Some of the points I've learned from Greg McKeown Essentialism book: page 168-170:
1. Don't Rob People of Their Problems.
They won't learn until they know they have to fix it.
2. Boundaries are a source of liberation.
Once they know you won't help, they will know they have no choice but to stand and sweat it. This is when your boundaries are up and you get your freedom back to yourself. Freedom to choose your time for something more essential.
4. Know your Dealbreakers
Acknowledge and be aware of those times you are violated because of someone's request even when you are not doing anything at that point in time. Most deep thinking happen when you have a clear mind. And so it is important to know if someone's request is a Dealbreaker or not.
5. Craft Social Contracts
The best part of what I have learned from this reflection is this. In our day and age, we are well surrounded with social media, online networks, friends both cyber and face to face. It is just fair and reasonable to agree on terms where both parties will benefit. I always believe that someone can do something for someone. Each individual will have to be willing to sacrifice so you can get the best out of each other.
Bring Your Time Back.
